Acceptable Use Policy

Last updated 21 July 2026

Ledger is a shared platform, and its deliverability depends on every sender behaving well. This policy sets out what you may and may not send. It forms part of our Terms of Service; breaching it may lead to suspension or termination.

Transactional email only

Ledger is for transactional and relationship email — messages sent to an individual in response to their action or account, such as contact-form notifications, order confirmations, receipts, shipping updates, password resets and security alerts. We deliberately do not support bulk marketing campaigns, newsletters, promotional blasts or cold outreach; keeping the service to genuine notifications is what keeps it trusted by inboxes.

Consent and legitimacy

  • Only email people who expect to hear from you because of an action they took or a relationship they have with you.
  • Only send from domains you own or are authorised to send on behalf of.
  • Make sure your “from” and reply-to addresses are accurate and monitored.
  • Honour unsubscribe and opt-out requests where they apply, and don’t email addresses that have asked you to stop.

Prohibited use

You must not use Ledger to send, or in connection with:

  • Spam, unsolicited bulk email, or purchased/scraped/rented mailing lists.
  • Phishing, spoofing, fraud, malware, or any attempt to deceive recipients about who you are.
  • Content that is unlawful, defamatory, harassing, hateful, or infringes others’ rights.
  • Evading suppression lists, filters, rate limits, or a prior suspension.
  • Anything that damages the reputation, security or deliverability of the platform or other users.

List hygiene and complaints

You must promptly stop sending to addresses that hard-bounce or generate spam complaints. Ledger maintains per-account suppression to help you do this, but keeping your list clean and your complaint rate low is your responsibility. Persistently high bounce or complaint rates put the whole platform at risk and may lead to throttling or suspension.

Enforcement

We monitor for abuse and may investigate suspected breaches. Where necessary to protect the platform we may rate-limit, suspend or terminate an account — immediately in serious cases such as active phishing or a compromised credential. We will act proportionately and, where practical, let you put things right.

Reporting abuse

If you have received email you believe was sent through Ledger in breach of this policy, please report it to hello@ledgersmtp.com with the message headers where possible. Ledger is a service of AIM Internet.
